New Business

 

  1.  Circus request

 

Richard Law informed the Board that a charity raising event would like to be on the PAL field in October, and he asked permission for some of his employees to park their cars in our Village Hall Parking lot.

 

  1. Village Clerk

 

A.   Minutes

 

On motion of Deputy Mayor Comer, seconded by Trustee Peckelis, it was unanimously RESOLVED that the reading of the minutes of the May 1, 2014 Meeting of the Board of Trustees be waived and they be, and hereby are, approved as presented by Clerk Whitcomb.

 

  1. Treasurer

 

              A.  Abstract of Vouchers

 

On motion of Trustee Haagenson, seconded by Trustee Peckelis, it was unanimously RESOLVED that the Audited Vouchers dated July 17, 2014 for the General Fund totaling $190,523.73 be and hereby are approved as prepared by Treasurer Tuck.

 

B.      Budget Modification

 

On motion of Deputy Mayor Comer, seconded by Trustee Haagenson, it was unanimously RESOLVED to adopt the Treasurer’s Report on the Budget Modification.  The Budget Modification is attached to these minutes.

 

C.       Village Audit

 

 

On motion of  Deputy Mayor  Comer, seconded by Trustee Peckelis, it was unanimously RESOLVED that Skinnon & Faber Village Audit for the fiscal year ending May 31, 2013 be and is hereby approved.

 

  1.   Village Building Inspector

 

The Board regretfully accepted the resignation of Building Inspector Robert  Barbach, effective June 30, 2014.

Former Village Building Inspector Joseph Saladino has agreed to return until the Board can select a permanent Building Inspector.

 

On motion of Deputy Mayor Comer, seconded by Trustee Haagenson, it was unanimously RESOLVED to pay Joseph Saladino $98.50 per hour.

 

  1. Sapountis-7 Hillside Avenue

 

Mrs. Sapountis requested permission from the Board for removal of seven healthy trees surrounding her home due to construction on her property.

 

Bill Haagenson,  who resides at 5 Hillside spoke in favor of  tree removal for the  property owners.

 

On motion of  Trustee Peckelis, seconded by Deputy Mayor,  Comer, it was unanimously RESOLVED that permission be granted for the removal of the trees.

 

  1.  Village Hall Smoke Detectors

 

On motion of Trustee Peckelis, seconded by Trustee Haagenson, it was unanimously RESOLVED to approve $2,100.00 for installation of  hard wired smoke/CO  detectors, to be  installed throughout the building at 315 Main Street.

 

  1.  Street Lighting Contract Renewal

 

On motion of Trustee Haagenson, seconded by Trustee Peckelis, it was unanimously RESOLVED to renew the village street lighting contract with Albertson Electric for a period of (1) one year .

 

  1.  Village Lighting

 

On motion of Trustee Haagenson, seconded by Trustee Peckelis, it was unanimously RESOLVED that Home Run Electric repair the outside lights at 315 Main Street for an amount of $875.00 and $760.00 for lamppost repair on Tianderah Rd.

           

Public Hearing 10.00PM

 

Deputy Mayor Comer re-opened the Public Hearing on Second Hand Merchandise, duly advertised in the July 2, 2013 issue of the Port Washington News, to consider Bill No 2 of 2013, a proposed local law to create Chapter 148, “Dealers in Secondhand Merchandise” of the Village Code of the Village of Baxter Estates, to regulate the sale of secondhand merchandise within the Village.

 

On motion of Deputy Mayor Comer, seconded by Trustee Haagenson, it was unanimously RESOLVED to close the Public Hearing.

 

Executive Session 10.15 PM

 

On motion of Deputy Mayor Comer, seconded by Trustee Haagenson, the Board voted unanimously to enter into Executive Session.

 

At 10:30 PM, the Deputy Mayor Comer stated that Executive Session had concluded and that no action had been taken.

 

 

 

 

There being no further business before the Board, on motion of  Deputy Mayor Comer, seconded by Trustee Peckelis, it was unanimously RESOLVED that the meeting be and hereby is adjourned at 10:30PM.
